How Local Touches Global

From Shannon Daley-Harris:

A local book group picked the book as one month's selection. After the group had read it, they had me come speak. One of the participants, who had been featured in the book, was departing the next day for a return trip to Burma/Myanmar. Another participant had been inspired by one of the Our Day actions, and brought to the book club meeting several of the dolls she had knitted that will serve as cushioning for medical supplies being sent overseas, and then the dolls will be given to children there. Another couple were inspired by the water chapter and have committed to taking each of their grandchildren to a developing country to build a well that they will fund.

Marcia Van Dyke, a member of the Presbyterian Child Advocacy Network, has written a review of Our Day for the Presbyterian Health, Education, and Welfare Association Newsletter.

Feature in Global Education Network News

The story of how Our Day came to be is told in the Global TeachNet winter 2007-2008 newsletter. Global TeachNet is a quarterly teacher resource from the global education networks of the National Peace Corps Association and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Highlighting the book’s practicality and connection to the Millennium Development Goals, the piece encourages educators to use Our Day as a resource.
